Way back in 2001, our intermediate class went to the local Polytech to do a computer class. We learned how to set up a Word document and how to use Word Art and insert clip art. After we had mastered Word, we moved on to Excel where we put simple data into little tables, used the SUM function, and made a couple of graphs. Nothing super technical, just enough for us to know the basics.
I never really had much need to use Excel after that beyond simple tables but 15 years later, I got a proper job that required some spreadsheets. I taught myself how to do what I needed to do, then I moved to another job where I needed to learn even more complex things. I was pretty ambivalent about this Excel nonsense back in 2001, but by 2017 I was firmly a fan.
Since I learned the joy of spreadsheets, I use them in my work life and non-work life as much as possible. When things get really stressful, my spreadsheets get more epic and more beautiful. At work, I can forget the world and all bodily functions, and focus on making my spreadsheet work just right. I have realised that I use spreadsheets as a tool for self-soothing and the more stressed I get, the more I want to work on a really complex, beautiful spreadsheet.
Naturally, as a lover of spreadsheets and cross-stitching, I had combine the two.
If you work hard in the spreadsheet mines and want to stitch this yourself, here’s the pattern.
If you just want the completed stitch, it is for sale. Send me a message to purchase.
Currently, I’m hella stressed and I’m feeling pretty bad about having neglected this Substack and my Instagram account so I have made a spreadsheet of all of the stitches I’ve done since 2020. I’ll check the patterns and put the not outdated ones up here for people to stitch. I’ll also be having a clear out of the completed stitches I’ve still got in my house, so if you want to buy anything, get in touch.
